Trading platform Plus500 announced on 26 October that it has upgraded its 2026 sales and earnings outlook after a 27% year‑on‑year increase in new customers during the third quarter.

What happened

Between 1 July and 30 September the company added 28,747 customers, bringing the quarter‑on‑quarter growth to more than a quarter. Revenue for the period rose 11% to $203.2 million (£152.2 million) and underlying earnings increased 7% to $88.4 million (£66.2 million). The firm said the stronger performance allows it to expect full‑year results that beat market expectations.

What the reports add

Both the Independent and the Evening Standard reported the same figures for customer growth, revenue and earnings. They also noted that analysts had previously forecast 2026 revenue of $837.6 million (£627.2 million) and earnings of $358 million (£268.1 million). The outlets quoted Plus500’s statement that the “strong financial performance and meaningful strategic progress in the first nine months of 2026” underpins the upgraded outlook.

What was said

David Zruia, chief executive of Plus500, told the outlets: “Plus500 has delivered significant strategic and operational progress in the third quarter and throughout 2026, underpinning strong financial results. We expanded our global reach and product suite, which continued to attract increasing numbers of higher‑value customers.”

How it came about

Plus500 has been expanding its product range, launching prediction‑market contracts in February and adding sporting‑event contracts in June, timed with the 2026 FIFA World Cup across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The company also announced ongoing strategic acquisitions, including deals to purchase two broker‑dealers in the United States and Brazil. Earlier this month Felo covered a trend among SMEs to focus on customer retention rather than acquisition, a strategy that aligns with Plus500’s emphasis on attracting higher‑value clients.
