Dubai authorities reported that customs inspectors stopped a vehicle at a land border crossing after advanced scanning systems detected irregularities. A manual inspection revealed 16.2kg of crystal methamphetamine concealed inside one of the tyres, according to the General Directorate of Ports Security at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
The seizure was carried out with specialised customs support and security teams tasked with narcotics detection. The agency highlighted that the incident demonstrates the combined value of technology and inspector experience in countering sophisticated smuggling methods.
Since the start of 2026, the General Directorate of Ports Security has recorded 765 drug seizures, involving roughly 390kg of narcotics and 50,000 illicit pills, the authority said.
