Olivia Rodrigo told Billboard that Kendrick Lamar’s 2017 single “HUMBLE.” inspired the mantra‑like quality of her newly released remix of “Expectations” featuring Chappell Roan, which dropped on Oct. 16, 2026.
In an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Rodrigo said the track was a personal challenge to write a song she could sing every night, comparing its repetitive hook to Lamar’s “Sit down, be humble.” She added that Roan’s attitude and swagger also shaped the final version.
The remix arrived with a game‑show‑styled video hosted by David Byrne, featuring a Family Feud‑type showdown dubbed “Sister Squabble.” The original “Expectations” had already topped Rodrigo’s Billboard 200 album and reached No. 20 on the Hot 100.
