The Hollywood Reporter announced a partnership with the Animation Is Film Festival (AIF) in Los Angeles for the first live version of THR’s Animation Roundtable. The public conversation will feature filmmakers behind this year’s top animated feature contenders, including Bill Hader (star and executive producer of The Cat in the Hat), Travis Knight (director of Wildwood), Louis Clichy (Iron Boy), Joel Crawford (Forgotten Island), Leah Nelson (Tangles), Phuong Mai Nguyen (In Waves) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Hexed). The session is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, the main venue for AIF’s ninth edition, which runs Oct. 16‑19.
THR’s deputy editorial director Jeanie Pyun said the inaugural Animation Power List, launched earlier this week, aims to recognize the talent and vision of animated filmmakers worldwide. Matt Kaszanek, director of Animation Is Film, added that the partnership highlights animation’s growing impact on the box office and its need for greater visibility alongside live‑action cinema.
