Dubai – A busy weekend of sport saw Manchester City, Max Verstappen and Hubert Hurkacz emerge as the biggest winners, while Liverpool and Manchester United endured disappointing results, Gulf News reported.

In the Premier League, City delivered a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, marking their sixth consecutive league win. The win came after the club was found guilty of 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules, a verdict they have appealed. Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki scored, and the match took place amid a hostile atmosphere.

Liverpool’s loss left them nine points behind the league leaders after six matches, and manager Andoni Iraola now faces pressure to improve the side’s form.

Chelsea rebounded from a 3-0 defeat to Brentford with a 5-1 home win over Bournemouth. Jordan Henderson scored twice and assisted once on his home debut, João Pedro netted a brace and Morgan Rogers also found the net.

In Formula 1, Max Verstappen secured a commanding victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, leading from start to finish and beating Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by more than seven seconds. The win was his 73rd career Grand Prix victory and his second consecutive win after Bahrain.

On the tennis circuit, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz stunned Novak Djokovic at the Shanghai Masters, winning 6-4, 6-3 to reach the third round. The victory ended an eight‑match losing streak against the 24‑time Grand Slam champion and marked Hurkacz’s first win in nine meetings with Djokovic. He served 13 aces and held all ten of his service games.

Manchester United failed to claim three points in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead in the 73rd minute, but the match ended level, leaving United’s early‑season campaign in doubt.
