Two‑time major champion Jon Rahm will make his first appearance at the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links from November 5‑8, the opening event of the DP World Tour Play‑Offs, Gulf News reported.
What happened
Rahm, who has five Rolex Series titles on the DP World Tour, will travel to the United Arab Emirates next month to compete alongside defending champion Aaron Rai and six‑time major winner Rory McIlroy. The tournament will feature the leading 70 players in the Race to Dubai Rankings, with the top 50 advancing to the season‑ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai the following week.
What the reports add
The article notes Rahm’s previous successes in the UAE, including DP World Tour Championship wins in 2017, 2019 and 2022 and Irish Open victories in 2017 and 2019. It also mentions that general admission is free for the first two days, while tickets for the final two days start at AED 75, and premium hospitality options begin at AED 1,680.
What was said
Rahm said, “I’ve had some of the best weeks of my career in the UAE, so I’m really looking forward to playing in Abu Dhabi for the first time. I’ve heard great things about Yas Links, and I’m looking forward to playing there. It’ll be great to get started in Abu Dhabi before heading to Dubai the following week,” as quoted by Gulf News.
How it came about
Rahm’s participation follows his strong record on the DP World Tour’s premier stage, putting him level with Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton in titles. His inclusion adds to a star‑studded field that also features Aaron Rai, fresh from his PGA Championship win, and Rory McIlroy, who is aiming to equal the record of eight Race to Dubai titles.
