West Indies all‑rounder Rovman Powell and fast bowler Sherfane Rutherford were officially reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second men’s T20 International against India in Ranchi on Friday, according to PTI via News18.
Powell was found guilty of violating Article 2.2 after he struck the ball away with his bat following his dismissal by Mayank Yadav in the sixth over of the West Indies innings. Rutherford breached Article 2.8 when he shouted at the umpire in the 13th over after a wide‑ball call was over‑ruled.
Both players admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Prakash Bhatt of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, avoiding formal hearings. Each received a Level 1 reprimand and one demerit point, the first such points in a 24‑month period.
