Ten injured as luxury car crashes into vehicles in Chennai

Police arrested the 45‑year‑old driver, who claimed he hit the accelerator by mistake.

newindianexpress.com reported that a luxury car collided with multiple vehicles in Erukkanchery near Kodungaiyur, Chennai, on Thursday night, leaving ten people injured.

The 45‑year‑old driver, Ganesan, a steel‑company employee from Ambattur, allegedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes while crossing Erukkanchery Road. The car struck autorickshaws, two‑wheelers and a mini‑truck. Ganesan and the car’s passenger were also hurt and taken to Stanley Medical College Hospital; the other injured were sent to nearby hospitals, with the more seriously wounded remaining at Stanley.

Police said Ganesan was not under the influence of alcohol but admitted feeling depressed and inattentive at the time. He was arrested by Sembium traffic police, remanded in judicial custody and a case was registered.
