New Delhi – The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced on Oct. 9 that it has formed a 15‑member expert sub‑committee to trace pollution sources in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh that impact air quality in Delhi‑NCR. The panel, chaired by Dr. S D Attri, Member Technical of CAQM, includes scientists from IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, Rajasthan Technical University, PGIMER Chandigarh, CSIR‑NEERI and the India Meteorological Department, as well as representatives from the Central Pollution Control Board and the state pollution control boards.
Tasked with identifying regional hotspots and major polluting activities, the committee must submit its findings within two months. Dr. Vikas Singh, a scientist at CAQM, will serve as member‑convenor and may co‑opt additional experts if needed.
