Federal Minister Amir Muqam told reporters in Peshawar that all legal requirements for imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been met and the situation could change at any time. He said the province has endured years of terrorism and that stronger security measures are needed to restore peace and support development. Muqam criticised the PTI‑led provincial government and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, alleging the administration has failed to improve daily life, education, healthcare and basic facilities. He also warned that the provincial push for greater control over senior police officials could affect police morale. The minister noted that the PTI‑organized long march, originally set for September 27, was postponed to October 4, and that road blockages continue because of the political activity. Muqam said governor’s rule remains one possible option, citing what he described as unlawful actions by the provincial government.
