UAE National Centre of Meteorology forecasts five days of rain, fog and strong winds

Rainfall is expected across eastern and western parts of the UAE over five days, while humidity and wind speeds could raise fog and dust levels.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said the United Arab Emirates will face a five‑day spell of rain, fog and dusty winds from Sunday, Oct 18, through Thursday, Oct 22, according to Gulf News.

What happened

On Oct 17 the NCM warned of possible rain in eastern areas of the UAE in the afternoon, with humid overnight conditions that could bring fog or mist in coastal and inland zones. Temperatures were forecast to reach 37‑42 °C inland and 35‑40 °C along the coast, while mountain highs would stay between 28‑33 °C. Light to moderate winds of 10‑25 km/h were expected, with occasional gusts up to 40 km/h.

From Oct 18 onward the centre’s five‑day outlook predicts convective clouds developing over eastern parts on Sunday afternoon, bringing rain. The chance of rainfall spreads to inland and western areas from Monday through Wednesday, then shifts toward western regions on Thursday. Winds will generally be light to moderate but may strengthen to 50 km/h during cloud activity, raising dust. Humidity is set to rise overnight, increasing the likelihood of fog or mist in coastal and inland locations. Skies are expected to remain mostly fair to partly cloudy throughout the period.

What the reports add

Gulf News’ Oct 17 article highlighted the immediate chance of rain in eastern UAE on Saturday afternoon and noted sea conditions ranging from slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. The Oct 18 piece extended the forecast, specifying that rain could continue for five consecutive days and that winds might reach 50 km/h, higher than the earlier 40 km/h peak.

What was said

The NCM, quoted by Gulf News, said, "Convective clouds could develop over eastern parts of the country on Sunday afternoon, bringing a chance of rain," and added that "winds will be light to moderate for much of the period but could strengthen considerably during cloud activity, reaching 50 km/h from Sunday through Wednesday and raising dust."

How it came about

Earlier this month the NCM issued a red fog alert for Tuesday morning, warning of humid conditions and possible rain in eastern UAE (Felo coverage). A week later, on Oct 13, the centre forecast rain with inland temperatures climbing to 43 °C and gusts up to 40 km/h (Felo coverage). The current five‑day outlook follows those earlier alerts, indicating a persistent unsettled pattern across the region.
