The state plans long‑term supply partnerships and branding of its fine and superfine rice varieties.

Hyderabad – After exporting 30,000 tonnes of rice to the Philippines in 2025, Telangana is courting buyers across Asia, Africa and West Asia, officials said.
At the International World Rice Conference 2026 in Manila, Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Raveendra told global agricultural leaders the state wants to move from a commodity supplier to a branded exporter of fine and superfine rice.
Telangana produced 18.5 million tonnes of rice last season, roughly 12 percent of India’s total output from just 10 percent of the country’s rice‑growing area. The Civil Supplies Department said it will promote premium varieties, offer traceable supply solutions and protect domestic food‑security while creating higher economic value from the surplus.
