Telangana BJP chief says Form‑7 applications filed per rules, slams opposition

BJP chief N Ramchander Rao rejects claims that Form‑7 filings breach electoral rules, citing data on deleted voter entries.

By Felo News Desk · Published

Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao told a press conference in Hyderabad on Tuesday that BJP workers had submitted Form‑7 applications in full compliance with electoral rules. He said opposition figures, including Rahul Gandhi and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, were spreading false allegations about the Form‑6, Form‑7 and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) processes.

Rao noted that a Form‑7 filing does not automatically strip a voter of voting rights; deletion can only occur after due process. He cited figures released by the Election Commission, stating that 71% of the 13.3 crore deleted entries were due to absent or shifted voters, 20% were deceased, and 7.6% were duplicate or multiple entries.

The BJP chief also recalled 2018 accusations by Rahul Gandhi and Singhvi that Telangana had 70 lakh bogus votes, and added similar claims from Congress leaders Kamal Nath (60 lakh in Madhya Pradesh) and Sachin Pilot (45 lakh in Rajasthan). He blamed the All India Majlis‑e‑Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for pressuring investigations and said the SIR exercise had been carried out 12 times between 1952 and 2014.
