Telangana announced plans to forge long‑term rice supply partnerships across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, building on a 30,000‑tonne export to the Philippines in 2025, according to the state’s Civil Supplies department.
Speaking at the International World Rice Conference 2026 in Manila, Civil Supplies Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra highlighted the state’s 18.5 million tonnes of rice production in the last season – about 12% of India’s total – and urged international buyers to explore reliable supply agreements.
The department said the push aims to shift Telangana from a bulk commodity supplier to a branded, globally competitive exporter while safeguarding domestic food‑security needs.
