On National Postal Day, hundreds of heritage enthusiasts lined up at Bengaluru's General Post Office (GPO) to purchase the Karnataka Philately Passport, according to newindianexpress.com.
The passport, priced at Rs 600, serves as a travel diary encouraging collectors to visit heritage sites and obtain unique Permanent Pictorial Cancellations (PPCs) from designated post offices. The GPO sold 1,500 copies on Saturday, with an additional 2,000 slated for Sunday.
Eight thousand passports are available statewide at four locations: Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru and Belagavi, each offering 1,500 copies on the first day and 1,000 more on Sunday. V Tara, Director of Postal Services for the Bengaluru region, said three collectors who visited all four offices and gathered the special PPCs were honoured by the GPO.
