Police in Islamabad say a student from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was found dead by hanging in the G‑10 sector on Saturday, after she discovered that an immigration consultant had provided fake documents for a US university admission.
What happened
Laiba, identified by family as a gold‑medalist graduate, had sought the consultant’s help to study abroad. The family says the consultant demanded Rs7 million; her father sold land and paid Rs2.1 million in cash, while her mother pledged jewellery. After checking the documents and finding them allegedly fake, Laiba sent a final message to her maternal uncle asking him not to inform her father.
