Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case after veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar was found dead at his Dona Paula residence, Gulf News reported on Oct. 9, 2026.
Police Sub‑Inspector Nitin Naik is leading the investigation, which is filed under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The actor was taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival at 5:20 a.m. after a cardiac arrest. Dr. Shekhar Salkar said medical staff attempted CPR for about 45 minutes but could not revive him.
The police will examine the post‑mortem report from Goa Medical College and record statements from Patekar’s family and other relevant persons to determine the circumstances of his death. The registration of an unnatural death case is a procedural step and does not automatically imply foul play; the case may be closed if the investigation confirms natural causes.
According to the report, Patekar, 75, had a known heart condition and was on medication. His body was handed over to his family for last rites after the post‑mortem on Thursday morning.
