Assam Police registered a suo motu case on Friday night after a video circulated showing a woman being partially stripped and assaulted by bouncers outside a nightclub in Guwahati's Khanapara area, deccanchronicle reported.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Tabu Ram Pegu told PTI that the incident occurred around 1:30‑2 am on Friday and that CCTV footage and other details have been collected for investigation. No arrests have been made yet, and the woman’s identity remains unknown because she has not filed a formal complaint.
Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta said club management staff have been questioned at the local police station and that the video’s authenticity is being examined.
