The NFL said on Monday that an animated "Star Wars Funday Football" alternate telecast will stream live with the 2027 Super Bowl on Feb. 14. The special will be carried on Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney+ and the ESPN app, in partnership with Lucasfilm and Disney.

Anthony Daniels, the longtime voice of C‑3PO, will reprise the role for the broadcast, and a teaser shows the protocol droid teaming up with R2‑D2. The telecast will overlay live‑animated avatars of the players and insert Star Wars characters and Easter eggs at key moments.

The traditional game will still be shown on ESPN, ABC and Disney+ with Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge as announcers. Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, and halftime details remain unconfirmed, though Jay‑Z is rumored to headline.
