Disney announced on September 28, 2026 that it has signed an overall production deal with director Shawn Levy and his company 21 Laps to develop television projects for all Disney brands.

Dana Walden, Disney’s President and Chief Creative Officer, said in a statement that Levy’s storytelling "captures audiences and inspires passionate fandom" and that the partnership will "build this next chapter together."

The agreement comes as Levy is working on Disney’s forthcoming Star Wars: Starfighter film, the first Star Wars movie set after The Rise of Skywalker, and follows his previous collaborations with Disney on titles such as Deadpool, Free Guy and the Night at the Museum series.

Levy, who began his career directing episodes for Disney Channel, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting his long‑standing relationship with Walden from their time at Fox.
