Rapper DeAndre "Soulja Boy" Way posted on Instagram on Oct. 10, 2026, hinting at a possible 2028 presidential run. The caption read “SOULJA BOY 2028” and described the move as a "new chapter" and a "bigger vision."
What happened
The Instagram post listed four areas of focus: economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI. Way added that he is "exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service" and that "the future starts with a conversation." The post did not include policy specifics or a formal campaign launch.
What was said
Way wrote, "From music to business to technology, I’ve always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible. Now I’m exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service." The article notes the post was made on Saturday, Oct. 10.
How it came about
The tease follows Soulja Boy’s appearance at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s Jan. 2025 inauguration festivities, an event he later defended as a paid gig. It also echoes a 2019 Saturday Night Live sketch that imagined the rapper running for president.
