Hong Kong‑based Cappu Films has taken worldwide sales for “Banr,” a Canadian‑Chinese drama written, directed and produced by Erica Xia‑Hou. After premiering in the Narrative Features lineup at the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival, the film will be presented at the Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Contents & Film Market, where Cappu will pitch it to buyers.
The story follows a couple, played by Sui Li and Baoqing Li, whose 40‑year marriage is strained as the wife’s memory fades. Roughly two‑thirds of the film was shot in an observational, documentary style. Xia‑Hou said, “If memory disappears, does love disappear with it?”
Janice Woo of Cappu Films added, “The film looks closely at the everyday choices a family makes when someone they love begins to lose their memory. We look forward to introducing it to buyers in Busan and helping it reach audiences around the world.”
