Resident files complaint against CJP leaders over unauthorised Shivaji Park protest

The complaint cites Bombay High Court directions and alleges illegal assembly despite police denial of permission.

Advocate and Shivaji Park resident Siddhi Deolekar filed a complaint at Shivaji Park Police Station on Oct 2, 2026, accusing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, co‑convenor Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and another individual of proceeding with an unauthorised protest.

Deolekar said the party ignored a police denial of permission for a gathering at the iconic Mumbai venue on Gandhi Jayanti, despite the Mumbai Police citing Bombay High Court directions (PIL 116/2009) that restrict large assemblies at Shivaji Park.

In a post on X, Deolekar quoted the High Court’s order and argued that defying it "under the cover of a political protest" undermines constitutional obligations. She added, "No one is above the law," and called the rally "an insult to the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay."

Despite the denial, CJP organisers proceeded, drawing thousands of young men and women. Heavy police and security presence was deployed, and entry routes from Dadar railway station were barricaded, yet protesters reached the park.
