New Delhi – The Shivaji Park Citizens Forum has lodged a complaint with Mumbai police demanding a murder case be registered against Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke after 75‑year‑old Gopalakrishna Subbaiya Pillai died of a heart attack while attending a CJP protest on Oct 2.
Pillai arrived at Shivaji Park around 4:30 pm, reported chest pain near Gate 6 at about 5 pm, received preliminary treatment from a doctor on site and was taken to Sushrusha Hospital, where he later died. Police recorded an accidental death report and attributed the death to a heart attack.
Separately, police filed an FIR against the protest organisers and 400‑500 unidentified participants for holding the rally despite a denial of permission, citing Sections 189 and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act. The denied permission was based on concerns over traffic, public inconvenience and noise.
Dipke responded that the CJP would continue its campaign.
