Musubi launches PolicyLM-1.7B, an open‑weight decision model for real‑time content moderation
The new model aims to let platforms enforce policies quickly without retraining when rules change.

Musubi announced on Tuesday the release of PolicyLM-1.7B, a lightweight decision model built for real‑time content moderation and made available with open weights, TechCrunch reported.
What happened
The company said the model can evaluate a plain‑English policy against incoming messages in under 50 milliseconds, delivering a binary judgment—content is either in the policy category or not. Musubi positions the model as comparable in cost and speed to existing AI classifiers used by major social platforms, but with the flexibility of a modern large language model.
What the reports add
According to the product announcement, the model does not require new training when a policy is updated, allowing human policy‑setters to iterate freely. Musubi co‑founder and chief AI officer Filip Jankovic noted that decision models output outcome probabilities rather than text, which makes them faster and cheaper while retaining transformer‑based flexibility.
What was said
Jankovic told TechCrunch, “Product teams just want a better understanding of what’s happening on their platform, especially as the amount of content is exponentially increasing. Being able to label all of that in a very scalable, customizable way is extremely useful.” The announcement also read, “If Jev caught your eye, PolicyLM-1.7B is the same kind of model, trained specifically for content moderation, that you can run yourself.”
