Odisha fire service audits 3,700+ establishments in 25‑day safety drive

The audit, part of the ‘Surakshit Odisha, Vikshit Odisha’ campaign, covered northern, southern and central divisions.

Odisha Fire and Emergency Service completed fire‑safety audits of more than 3,700 establishments and institutions across the state over the past 25 days, the department said.

The highest number of audits were in the northern division (1,324), followed by the southern division (1,260) and the central division (1,174). Three establishments were inspected by special teams led by chief fire officer Debendra Kumar Swain.

Inspectors checked for valid fire‑safety certificates, functional equipment and unobstructed emergency exits. They also trained staff on evacuation, primary fire‑safety measures and proper extinguisher use.

Director General of Fire Services Sudhanshu Sarangi told media that establishments found violating rules were issued compliance notices to correct deficiencies within a stipulated period.
