A drone strike hit a market in the north of Nyala, Sudan's de facto capital of the Rapid Support Forces, on Monday evening, killing at least 21 people and injuring about 40, AFP reported.
The attack occurred around 8 p.m. local time (18:00 GMT), according to a resident who spoke to AFP. A medic at Nyala Hospital confirmed the death toll and the number of wounded on Tuesday.
Witnesses said the market was frequented by armed men, including RSF fighters. The Sudanese military and the RSF have been fighting each other since April 2023, and Nyala has been repeatedly struck in the conflict.
