The Sudanese army announced that a series of drone strikes on Friday hit Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions and command centres in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, killing dozens of fighters, according to a statement released by the army.
The RSF countered that the same attacks targeted a busy livestock market in the city, killing 30 civilians, including 17 women and five children. The paramilitary group said it has not confirmed whether any of its fighters were killed in separate strikes.
Human‑rights group Emergency Lawyers posted on X that a market was hit on Friday and that the drone used was "affiliated" with the Sudanese army. Al Jazeera’s Almigdad Alruhaid reported the fighting between the army and RSF has intensified, with the army repeatedly using drones in Darfur to retake territory held by the RSF.
