Sudanese army says it captured RSF stronghold of al‑Mazroub

The army says fierce fighting forced RSF casualties and vehicle losses as it secures the town linking North and West Kordofan.

Sudanese Armed Forces announced on Friday that they have taken control of al‑Mazroub in North Kordofan after intense battles with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Al Jazeera reported.

The statement said the fighting resulted in RSF casualties and heavy losses of combat vehicles. An army source described al‑Mazroub as the RSF’s largest stronghold in the state, while Special Forces spokesman Mohammed Deidan told Anadolu that the town links North and West Kordofan and its seizure advances the army’s goal of cutting RSF supply lines.

The army urged residents in liberated areas to return to normal life. The Kordofan region, comprising North, West and South Kordofan, has become a main battleground since late 2025, with one‑fifth of recorded attacks in Sudan occurring there.
