Canal+ reports 3% drop in MultiChoice revenue for first nine months of 2026
The decline was driven by lower South African subscriptions, while other markets helped offset the loss.

Canal+ said MultiChoice’s revenue fell 3% on a like‑for‑like basis in the nine months to September 2026, mainly because of weaker subscription revenue in South Africa. The group added that the decline eased in the third quarter to a 2% year‑on‑year drop, compared with a 3.4% fall in the first half.
On a reported basis, revenue rose 0.4% to €1.81 billion, benefitting from a material positive currency effect, Canal+ noted in its trading update. Higher revenue in most of MultiChoice’s other English‑speaking markets partly offset the South African weakness.
Canal+ did not disclose subscriber numbers but said the subscriber base in Africa and Asia had “normalised” in the third quarter after a boost from the FIFA World Cup earlier in the year. The company highlighted a new, simplified value proposition launched in September in South Africa, offering more content and choice at the same price.
CEO Maxime Saada said the rollout of the new offers will continue across English‑ and Portuguese‑speaking Africa in the coming months and that the group is making good progress with the MultiChoice turnaround plan.
