Netflix has unveiled a two‑minute trailer for its upcoming three‑part docuseries, The One About Matthew Perry, which will premiere on Oct. 27. The film follows the late Friends actor’s rise to fame, his long‑term battle with drug addiction and the personal relationships that shaped his life.

The trailer, released Tuesday, shows close family and friends sharing memories and includes previously unseen photos and videos from the Perry family archive. Mia Perry Bowick, Matthew’s sister, appears in the trailer and says, “It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life – to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction.” She adds that her brother’s legacy is “a beautiful heart and a generous spirit.”

In addition to Bowick, the series will feature stories from close friends David Pressman and Roger Castillo, former girlfriends, and collaborators from his early sitcom work and later film career. The docuseries is directed by Mary Robertson and produced by Maxine Productions, a part of Sony Pictures Television.

According to Variety, the film will explore Perry’s career as a beloved actor and comedian while revealing details of his sobriety journey. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the series is “the first in‑depth, definitive documentary about the beloved Friends star, told by some of the people who knew him best.” Both outlets agree the series aims to present a fuller picture of Perry beyond his on‑screen persona.
