Jingwei Yin unveils Shanghai Spring 2027 collection for Oude Waag

Yin draws on personal hardship, merging sharp tailoring with fluid draping and a sudden slash of crimson.

Oude Waag designer Jingwei Yin presented his Shanghai Spring 2027 collection on October 13, 2026, according to Vogue. The show combined sharp tailoring, neat contours and liquid draping, featuring floating chiffon, washed surfaces and ink‑splash prints inspired by Chinese ink painting.

Yin, who previously worked with Haider Ackermann, said he seeks a connection between draping and Eastern and Japanese flat‑cutting techniques, aiming to unite them in a modern way. He described draping as a form of drawing or sculpture that requires the eye, mind and hands to work together.

The palette moved from earthy browns and muted grays to a sudden slash of crimson, suggesting a renewed appetite for life. Yin explained, “I love women’s complexities. But above all, I’m drawn to their mystery.”
