Blondie announced their first album in nine years, titled High Noon, slated for release on Feb. 26, 2027. The record includes the final recordings of co‑founding drummer Clem Burke, who died in April 2025.
What happened
Recording sessions began in 2022 in New York City with producer John Congleton, who also worked on the band’s 2017 album Pollinator. Additional production and mixing were provided by David Wrench. The album spans 13 tracks, according to Rolling Stone, and will be issued by Maddy Rotman. The lead single, “Spectral Eyes,” written and performed with guitarist Johnny Marr, is already available.
What the reports add
Rolling Stone noted that the LP features contributions from Johnny Marr, Glen Matlock, Zach Condon of Beirut, and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius, among others. The Standard highlighted that the album also includes input from Lucius and reiterated the involvement of Marr, Matlock and Condon. Both outlets agree that the album marks the final recording of Clem Burke, who was 70 at the time of his death.
What was said
Debbie Harry said in a statement, “This album is classic Blondie – an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new. This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now,” as reported by both Rolling Stone and the Standard. Guitarist Chris Stein told the Standard, “It’s been a long, strange ride, and somehow here we are with another Blondie album. I’m not sure what the f*** I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we’re incredibly grateful for all your support over the years.”
How it came about
Blondie’s last studio effort, Pollinator, was released in 2017 and also involved John Congleton. The band’s return follows a period of solo projects and touring, and the new collaborations echo the cross‑genre experiments seen in recent releases such as Alanis Morissette’s holiday album and Grimes’ AI‑inspired single, both covered by Felo News earlier this month.
