Ukraine described India’s cease‑fire proposal as the “broadest” of four offers it has received, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Monday. The proposals came from India, Turkey, Egypt and the United States.
Sybiha told reporters that Kyiv is ready to discuss a truce that would stop combat operations and also halt attacks on energy facilities, port infrastructure and the Black Sea. He added that a cease‑fire could be part of a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that Ukraine is open to different formats, including an unconditional one along the line of contact.
The comments followed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to Putin for a transition from an “endless war” to an “end of war”. Putin praised Modi’s efforts, saying the Indian leader repeatedly raised the issue and offered “very good ideas” for a settlement. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Sybiha in Kyiv a month earlier.
