Temples across six districts of Andhra Pradesh’s Godavari region are gearing up for Dasara Navaratri festivities scheduled for Oct 11‑20, according to Deccan Chronicle.

What happened

Daily celebrations will run from 5 am to 9 pm at major sites such as the Bala Tripura Sundari temple in Kakinada, Vasavi Matha in Penugonda, Mavullamma in Bhimavaram, Mardimma in Peddapuram, the Ayyappa Swamy temple in Kakinada and venues in Amalapuram and Eluru. At Bala Tripura Sundari, pujas continue until noon each day. The Devi Utsava Committee in Rajamahendravaram and several peethams have announced detailed ritual schedules.

What the reports add

The article notes that the venue capacity has been raised by 50 percent compared with previous years, and that registrations for the 100‑crore Kumkumarchana exceeded the initial target, prompting a temporary suspension of new sign‑ups. Organisers said they may reopen registration if demand persists.

What was said

Ayyappa Swamy temple organiser P. Gopalakrishna told Deccan Chronicle that daily rituals will begin at 7 am with Gou Puja, Shiva Abhishekam, Kumkum Puja, Bala Puja, Suhasini Puja, Chandi Homam, Pushpanjali and special haratis, and that special arrangements have been made for women to join Kumkum pujas.

Ch. Gopi Sarma Siddanti, founder of Bhuvaneswari Peetham, said homams and pujas will run from 8 am to 4 pm and that couples can participate. Devarabhotla Prabhakara Sarma of Raja Rajeswari Peetham said the celebrations will span from Padyami Thithi to Pournami Thithi, with the goddess presented in different avatars each day.

How it came about

These festivities build on a long‑standing tradition of Navaratri worship in the region, with peethams reporting a devotee base of about 2.5 lakh across India and a goal to reach 10 lakh. The Kumkumarchana for women has been organised by the peetham for 27 years, and a Maha Yagam is slated for 2030.
