Hannah Cohen has recorded a new rendition of the title track “Music and Dreams” for the 50th‑anniversary reissue of Robert Lester Folsom’s cult album, which is slated for release on Oct. 16, Rolling Stone reported.
What happened
The reissue, issued by Anthology Recordings, will contain a remastered version of the original 1976 recordings, original reel‑to‑reel demos, and two new covers – Beach House’s “April Suzanne” and Cohen’s take on the title song. Cohen’s version features her “whimsical, feathery” vocals backed by a “serene horn section.”
What the reports add
Rolling Stone notes that the reissue follows a recent wave of covers, including Beach House’s earlier rendition of “April Suzanne.” The outlet also mentions that Folsom is currently touring North America and will head to the U.K. and Europe later in the fall to support the release.
What was said
“I’m just dreaming in the summer sun,” Cohen sings on the track.
In a statement, Cohen said the song reminded her of “the deep belly of winter in upstate New York” and praised Folsom’s songwriting for bringing “light and mischief” into her living room. Folsom told Rolling Stone that he first met Cohen at the 2025 Newport Folk Festival and described her as “the kind of person that I feel like I could invite over for a plain old bologna sandwich, and she wouldn’t bat an eye.”
How it came about
Folsom self‑released “Music and Dreams” in 1976, but the album only gained broader recognition decades later. The 50th‑anniversary edition, announced in September 2026, aims to celebrate the album’s legacy and introduce it to new listeners through fresh covers like Cohen’s.
