Deafheaven announced a surprise release of a new three‑track EP titled At Work in the Fields of the Bomb on Oct. 9, 2026, according to Pitchfork. The EP marks the band’s first new material since the 2025 album Lonely People with Power. Its concept draws from Robert Del Tredici’s 1987 book documenting nuclear weapons production, and a press release says the music “explores the unsettling contrast between the unimaginable consequences of the bomb and the mundane actions that make such destruction possible.” Unlike the previous album, the EP features no guest musicians. Deafheaven will spend the rest of 2026 touring with Mastodon.
