CompTIA’s latest research brief, “Practical Implications of AI Safety,” says that as artificial intelligence (AI) spreads across core business functions, companies are moving from experimentation to a risk‑management focus, according to the trade association’s vice‑president of research, Seth Robinson.

The brief notes that governance, cybersecurity and workforce readiness have become critical for delivering long‑term value from AI projects. About six in ten organisations are shifting from isolated productivity tools to enterprise‑wide AI deployments, while 98% of surveyed firms say risk management is essential, 96% stress data protection and privacy, and 95% highlight governance.

Security concerns rank as the second‑largest barrier to AI adoption, trailing only the challenge of balancing human staff with AI‑driven tools. Forty‑eight percent of respondents plan to allocate AI spending to cybersecurity, matching the share that will invest in employee AI training.

CompTIA outlines three priorities for the next adoption phase: align AI strategy with existing governance frameworks, build resilient cross‑functional decision‑making structures, and invest in workforce readiness to close skill gaps. Robinson repeated that “AI safety, governance and workforce development are becoming competitive advantages rather than compliance exercises.”
