Apple TV will begin offering live Formula 1 coverage in Dolby Atmos on supported devices starting with the U.S. Grand Prix weekend on Friday, October 23, in Austin, Texas, the outlet reported.
What happened
The partnership between Apple and Dolby Laboratories adds Dolby Atmos to the existing Dolby Vision video stream, aiming to deliver a more immersive experience for fans. Apple says the upgrade will cover team radio communications, race commentary, engine roar, on‑track battles and pit‑lane activity.
What was said
Oliver Schusser, vice‑president of Apple Music and International Content at Apple, told 9to5Mac, “The sound of Formula 1 is such an important part of what makes the sport so exciting, and with Dolby Atmos joining Dolby Vision, fans can experience the energy and intensity of every Grand Prix in a whole new way.”
How it came about
Apple secured U.S. streaming rights to Formula 1 in 2025 as part of a five‑year deal beginning with the 2026 season. The service already streams the Bahrain Grand Prix for free in the U.S. and has partnered with Netflix for the “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” series. The new audio upgrade expands Apple’s effort to deepen its sports offering.
