Apple executive chair Tim Cook sold 191,753 Apple shares on Oct. 2, valued at roughly $63.9 million, one day after 374,541 restricted stock units vested on Oct. 1, according to an Investing.com filing reported by 9to5Mac.
The RSU vesting was tied to Apple’s total shareholder return relative to other S&P 500 firms over three years. Cook’s shares were sold in multiple transactions at prices between $330.66 and $334.50 per share, while Apple’s stock was trading at $333.84 at the time of publication.
Apple withheld 199,038 shares, valued at $65.7 million, to cover tax obligations from the RSU vesting. The sale was carried out under a Rule 10b5‑1 trading plan adopted in May, meaning the transactions were pre‑scheduled. Cook also transferred 26,325 shares as a gift on Oct. 2, though the recipient was not identified. After these moves, Cook still holds more than 3.2 million Apple shares through his trust.
