Apple Notes gains divider lines, section links and AI‑powered note creation in iOS 27

Apple’s latest iOS update expands Notes with new formatting tools, AI integration and Markdown support.

Apple’s iOS 27 introduces a range of upgrades to the Notes app, including the ability to insert divider lines and create section links that act as a table of contents. Users can add a divider by tapping the desired spot, opening the edit menu and selecting “Insert Divider Line.” Section links are created by selecting text, choosing “Add Link” and then “Link to Section,” which embeds a direct link to a heading or subheading in the note.

Apple also enhances Siri’s role in Notes. The new Siri AI can add information to a new or existing note, such as reformatting a list or transcribing a spoken answer. The feature works with any note and can be triggered through the new Siri app.

Markdown handling is improved: pasting Markdown text automatically converts it to rich text, and a new “Copy as Markdown” option lets users export note content. Image Playground receives AI model upgrades, offering photorealistic image generation that benefits Notes users.
