Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) signed a partnership with The Boring Company (TBC) during the Liveability and Investment Exhibition (LIVEX 2026) on 8 October 2026, Gulf News reported.
Eng. Maysarah Mahmoud Salim Eid, ADPIC’s Director General, and Steve Davis, TBC’s President, signed the agreement in the presence of Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT). The deal calls for joint assessments of underground transport, utility tunnels and related infrastructure, including feasibility studies, delivery models and operational frameworks.
According to the statement, cooperation will cover tunnel planning, advanced boring technologies, construction methods, safety standards, digital engineering, automation and lifecycle management. Al Shorafa said the partnership reflects Abu Dhabi’s ambition to combine long‑term vision, innovation and global expertise to unlock new infrastructure possibilities.
Eid added that drawing on international best practices will help evaluate the role of underground solutions in meeting the emirate’s future infrastructure needs. Davis said Abu Dhabi offers an environment conducive to exploring tunnelling solutions that could expand urban capacity and optimise space use.
