Bloomberg Tax and Wolters Kluwer project that the Internal Revenue Service will raise the income limits for all seven 2027 tax brackets by about 3.2%, according to the Independent.
The lowest 10% bracket for single filers would move from $12,400 to $12,800, while married couples filing jointly would see the same bracket rise from $24,800 to $25,600. The top 37% bracket would increase from $768,000 to $793,650. Similar adjustments apply to head‑of‑household filers.
The experts say the increase exceeds the 2.7% rise the IRS applied for 2026 and reflects six instances this year when U.S. inflation topped 3%, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The IRS is expected to publish the official figures later this month.
