Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticised a diesel supply agreement between the United States and Russia after Russian guided‑bomb strikes on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia killed 15 people, three of them children, according to Ukrainian officials.
Zelensky said the deal, announced a day earlier by U.S. President Donald Trump, would "strengthen Russia’s ability to continue its war against Ukraine" and called it a mistake. He urged a reconsideration of the easing of sanctions on Russian diesel exports.
European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned that the sanctions relief would give Moscow additional resources, while Germany pledged to keep supporting further EU sanctions.
