The Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta saw a heavy rush of devotees on Saturday, following the start of a 13‑day Dasara school holiday in Telangana, according to Deccan Chronicle.

The state education department announced holidays for schools from Oct 10 to Oct 22, with classes resuming on Oct 23. Families from Hyderabad, Secunderabad, nearby districts and other states gathered at the hill shrine, creating long queues at darshan complexes and prasadam counters.

Temple officials said the shrine normally receives 5,000‑8,000 visitors daily, with footfall rising on weekends, public holidays and festivals. They have strengthened queue‑management, sanitation and crowd‑guidance measures; general darshan took about two hours at peak, while special‑darshan moved faster.

Devotees performed special pujas, abhishekams and Satyanarayana Vratams, and many families took part in tonsure rituals at the Kalyana Katta. "Children have a full break, and we wanted to begin Dasara with the blessings of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy," said a Hyderabad devotee.

Officials expect the crowd to increase further during Navaratri, Batukamma celebrations and Vijayadashami, and will continue enhanced arrangements throughout the festive period.
