Video footage posted by WABC Eyewitness News shows the Budhi Gandaki River bridge in Gorkha district collapsing as flash floods surged on Oct. 11, 2026. Nepalese officials reported at least five people are missing and more than 80 rescued from the currents, while a half‑dozen were saved from a landslide‑prone area called Jagat.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced the rescue effort in a social‑media post, and senior district official Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said villages downstream have been urged to evacuate.
The incident follows a deadly avalanche‑induced flood on Aug. 26 that killed over 1,400 people, marking the second major disaster in two months.
