At least 21 people have died after several days of heavy rain triggered floods and landslides across Nepal, the Daily Times reported on September 28.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah said authorities continued search, rescue and relief operations, while medical teams treated the injured and temporary shelters were set up for displaced families.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall from September 24 to 27, linking it to a low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. The flooding directly affected at least 747 families, forced the relocation of around 2,000 people, disrupted transportation, damaged roads and infrastructure, and knocked out 1,013.2 megawatts of electricity on the national grid.
Hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 318 megawatts stopped operations after collapsed transmission towers disrupted connections.
