On October 16, the Little Mountain Gallery in Vancouver will stage the "Vancouver Election Special 2026," a live comedy news‑desk program that satirises the city’s municipal politics, Straight.com reported.
What happened
The event is scheduled for Saturday night and is described as a non‑partisan show that mimics Saturday Night Live’s "Weekend Update" format. It will feature comedians Brent Constantine and Jess Lupini as anchors, delivering jokes and political commentary, with a panel of local comedians and special guests.
What the reports add
Straight.com notes that Lupini was recently featured on the outlet’s September cover story and is known for finding humour in uncomfortable situations. The article also highlights the timing: two municipal elections are set only eight days apart, providing ample material for the performers.
What was said
"Vancouver’s had an interesting election season that’s now been made even longer, and everyone deserves one night to laugh about it," the article quotes the show’s description.
How it came about
The comedy show is presented as a response to what the outlet describes as increasingly absurd municipal politics, including a mayor’s admission of using AI agents for personal tasks and unfounded allegations against a city councillor. The gallery hopes the event will give locals a chance to laugh before heading to the polls.
