Billboard reported that the trailer for season 2 of the Peacock reality series Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together was released on Oct. 15, showing the rapper and his wife heading to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden.
What happened
The clip opens with Nelly declaring, “We got invited to Taylor and Travis’ wedding. Nelly is a Swiftie,” before the couple boards a vehicle for the celebration. En route, Ashanti discovers that Nelly has omitted a bottle of lotion, prompting a brief exchange in which she asks, “F—, babe, you didn’t put the lotion in here?” The pair continues their journey despite the disagreement.
What the reports add
Billboard notes that the trailer also features appearances by Fat Joe, Ja Rule and Jadakiss, and includes footage of Ashanti in a recording studio re‑recording her masters – a move she links to the broader conversation about artists reclaiming ownership, a narrative popularized by Swift’s own rerecording project. The article cites Ashanti’s 2022 comment to Metro UK praising Swift’s empowerment of women in a male‑dominated industry.
What was said
In the trailer, Nelly says, “We got invited to Taylor and Travis’ wedding. Nelly is a Swiftie.” Ashanti’s line about the missing lotion is also quoted. Billboard references Ashanti’s earlier Metro UK interview where she said, “I think Taylor is amazing for what she’s done… More of us have to continue that narrative of women empowerment.”
How it came about
The series follows Nelly and Ashanti’s personal and professional lives, including parenthood and music projects. Their connection to Swift dates back to a 2015 Rolling Stone interview in which Nelly called Swift “like a little sister.” The upcoming wedding, covered by Felo News in earlier pieces about the ceremony’s music and Swift’s outfits, provides a high‑profile backdrop for the couple’s reality‑show narrative.
