A 36‑year‑old woman without a licence was stopped on Brisbane Road in Redbank, Ipswich, on October 9 after being recorded travelling 77 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Police said five children, aged four months to nine years, were in the back of her white Hyundai iMax without seatbelts, with a four‑month‑old baby being held by a five‑year‑old.
Queensland Police fined the driver $6,993, imposed 23 demerit points and charged her with driving without a licence. Senior Sergeant Jarrad Tyne told SMH, “There is absolutely no excuse for putting children at risk like this. Every child must be properly restrained, every time, no matter how short the journey.”
